Shane Carwin announced his retirement today. After a great career in Mma. 12-2 lifetime in Mma and lost his last two fights in the UFC to Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos . He became a UFC interim Champion after he dominated and knocked out Frank Mir.
Shane went on to fight Brock Lesnar for the UFC undisputed Championship. Carwin demolished Brock the first round.
2nd round he blew his wad at the end and was submitted in the second round loosing his chance of becoming the champ. All his 12 wins were finishes and did not reach a decision until he faced Junior Dos Santos.
What a classic war these two had but Shane came on the short end and lost via Unanimous Decision. Shane has had many injuries and never getting that shot at Roy Nelson which was canceled twice do to injuries.
Shane Carwin was one of the hardest punchers ever to grace the octagon.
Injuries were the ones that won in the end and forced him to call it quits.
Shane is a Engineer and has always out his family first. I believe this was a family decision and he will be missed in Mma.
