Fraser vs. Toner Confirmed For The Score Fighting Series – A Battle Of Styles Set For October 19th

TORONTO – There will be a true clash of styles when The Score Fighting Series (SFS) returns next month, with John ‘Haggis Basher’ Fraser set for an explosive battle with Tyler Toner in Sarnia on Friday, October 19th.

Hometown hero Fraser (10-4) will take to the cage at the RBC Centre after seeing his seven-fight win streak snapped by Josh Hill at bantamweight level at the SFS event last month in Hamilton. He will be determined to bounce back at featherweight, thought to be his more natural weight class and said he was looking forward to testing his skills to the maximum against Toner (13-4).

“Toner is a very well rounded fighter,” said Fraser. “I expect it to be a war with him. The keys to victory for me will be my conditioning, as well as my aggression.”

Nine of Fraser’s 10 wins have come via submission, which is in stark contrast to Toner’s record in the cage. The UFC veteran from Aurora, Colorado is known as a prolific striker, with more than half his wins coming via TKO or KO. A disciple of the Grudge Training School in Denver, Toner has honed his skills alongside UFC regulars including Duane Ludwig, Shane Carwin and Brendan Schaub and has competed in the WEC, UFC and Strikeforce.

“This is my first time fighting in Canada and it’s great to come in against such a well-regarded opponent,” said Toner, who has signed a three-fight deal with SFS. “But I plan on sending the local fans home disappointed. I am definitely going to bash the Haggis Basher.”

Fraser vs. Toner joins the likes of Jesse Gross vs. Seiji Sugiman-Marangos and Lyndon Whitlock vs. Rick Glenn on the main card, with further fights to be announced soon.

Meanwhile, the event also sees two flyweights making their professional debuts in a matchup between Malcolm Gordon and Tyler Kirk. Gordon is originally from Calgary but currently trains out of Adrenaline Training Centre in London while Kirk hails from Chatham, Ontario.

The main card will be televised live in Canada on theScore Television Network and in the US on AXS TV beginning 10:00pm EST. Tickets are on sale now starting at $29.95 and can be purchased through the RBC Centre box office and rbccentresarnia.com. Additional fights will be announced soon.
