The official weigh-ins for
the Strikeforce Grand Prix Heavyweight Tournament Final event went down this
evening at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.
The HP Pavilion also hosts
tomorrow’s live event, which will air on Showtime (main card) and Showtime
Extreme (prelim card).
Headliners, Grand Prix
Heavyweight Tournament finalists Josh ‘The Warmaster’ Barnett (248) and Daniel
Cormier (238) were both well under the 265-lbs limit for their bout. A
lightweight title bout was made official as champ Gilbert Melendez and opponent
Josh Thomson weighed in at 153-lbs each for their match.
There was some problems with
the scale early on as James Terry stepped on the scale at 135-lbs for his
lightweight fight. The scale was re-calibrated and he officially weighed in at
156.25-lbs. No mention was made by officials whether Terry would have to drop
the extra 0.25-lbs or not.
