FAMMA World Championship Set for Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada, May 6, 2012–The Federation of Amateur Mixed Martial Arts, FAMMA, has announced the dates and location of the first ever FAMMA World Amateur Mixed Martial Arts Championships. Tournament will be held at the world famous Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and is set for November 1-3, 2012.

The FAMMA World Championship will include 12 weight divisions for male and 5 weight divisions for female fighters. Hundreds of competitors from around the world are expected to compete. The tournament will be accompanied by the FAMMA World Expo, which will feature hundreds of booths, merchandise, exhibits and activities of interest to fans and practitioners of the sport of MMA.

Also at the Expo will be the FAMMA Ring-Girl Competition, from which 2 girls will be hired by FAMMA to serve as ring-girls at the Saturday night finals.

FAMMA Executive Albert C. Alfredo expressed “It has long been our goal to hold our first World Championship at the Mecca of MMA, Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. It is our way of showing the amateur MMA fighters from around the world that, even though they are amateurs, they will be treated like pros! ”

FAMMA executive Jack Cohen added, “We see the FAMMA World Championship as a stepping stone for fighters to achieve professional stardom.”

FAMMA is in the process of signing MMA Promoters and MMA Organizations worldwide to serve as FAMMA affiliates to coordinate competitions and qualify fighters for the FAMMA World Championship.
